The XM8 is an experimental weapon that was being developed by the U.S. Army to replace the M16 and M4. The XM8 was a variant of the kinetic energy module of the previous experimental OICW program of the 1990s. The XM8 was designed to be modular allowing it be easily configured to perform in a variety of roles from a PDW (personal defense weapon) to a squad heavy support rifle. The program was ultimately canceled in 2005.

The XM8 is a unique looking rifle and has been featured in several movies and video games including Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6 series.

The gun's shell is surpsingly durable for the cost. The fps and range specs are as good as you'll get for the money making this an excellent starter gun. However, it is only compatible with AGM magazines and the gun sight cannont be removed without major disassembly.

Powerful, accurate, and good rate of fire. These do decrease slightly when using .12 gram bbs instead of the .2 gram, but that is the same for all guns.

This gun is awesome, my friends fear it and despite being as long as a real rifle, just under 3 feet long(about 2' 11 1/4") with stock extended, it works well with a little practice in confined conditions it works well. It is full scale, 1 to 1, and for an airsoft gun it is pretty heavy.

Definately reccomend getting a hi cap magazine because if you need to lay down suppressive fire the standard magazine wont cut it. it also comes with a pistol mag style speed loader, but the plunger sticks sometimes, so you might want to buy one for yourself.

Also, special thanks to Tyler in customer service, he was very helpful and answered all my questions and requests promptly and effectivly.

This is an excellent gun if you want to start out with a more "high-end" weapon that can get the range and accuracy you need. Long life expectancy and easy to use and absolutely shoots around 370 fps or higher. Be warned though about using a more powerful battery on this gun, the rate of fire triples and not every shot will have bbs come out so use what comes in the box please. Also, be careful when buying the "Hi-cap" mag for the G36C that supposedly works for this gun as well; i bought it, didnt really work, but was fine in my friends G36C so i sold it to him. Overall great gun, i recommend it to anyone.

The reviewer is correct about the mags. The AGM XM8 uses a non-standard mag. While they look like standard 36x mags, they are not. We do carry both low cap and hi cap mags specifically for this gun.
